For us, growing our family of nonprofits leads to better outcomes in the Columbus community as well as a wider outreach. Adding new nonprofits means supporting yet another charity’s mission, as well as providing them with the necessary financial resources to succeed. As such, Community Shares of Mid Ohio is currently accepting applications for new members.

With 20 years of experience helping nonprofits reach their goals, we’ve gotten pretty good at it... and the numbers prove it. In 1994 we raised $1.50 for every dollar spent. Today, that number has more than doubled to $4.33. Additionally, in 1993, Community Shares only had 19 members, whereas today we have 59 members. The bottom line is that we take care of our member charities. After all, Community Shares has helped raise $6.2 million to help nonprofits. Here is what some of our member charities had to say about us when asked why they decided to become members:

VOICEcorps: “We decided to become a Community Shares member because we had recently lost funding from the United Way of Central Ohio. The positive things we have heard about Community Shares, including the ability to enter several workplace giving campaigns, and working together toward that goal as a group of nonprofits focused on social justice issues, appealed to us. “

NNEMAP: “Several of our volunteers work in organizations where the workplace campaign is handled through Community Shares. Their suggestions led to my exploration of Community Shares and saw that it was a great extension to our fundraising efforts.”

Community Kitchen: “I . . . felt we would be part of an ethical and hard working organization that had our best interests at heart.”

So if your Central Ohio nonprofit meets the criteria and is looking to ensure that your mission is achieved, consider joining Community Shares. To apply for membership, please submit a membership application no later than August 30th, 2013.
