<title>Mercy For Animals - Veal Crates</title>
<description>Mercy For Animals has released another online video showing the treatment of calves raised for the production of veal. The video, featuring Bob Barker, the former host of The Price is Right, shows the small confinement of calves and gives details on the type of life the animals live before being killed. 
As with the Dairy Farm abuse case, the new video has sent shock waves across the country and has brought big names like Costco into the spotlight. <title>2010 Community Shares Awards</title>
<description>At our third annual award ceremony, we recognized the individuals, organizations, and business working in Columbus and Mid Ohio to strengthen our communities. We wish to thank them for their devoted work and efforts in helping make our community a better place. Our 2010 award winners are:
2010 Employer of the Year: Franklin County
for their effort in promoting their workplace charity campaign to employees and, despite the challenging economic climate, increasing donations to local nonprofits by raising $365, 327 for charities.
2010 Sonya Mawhorter Volunteer of the Year Award: Carol Goland with OEFFA
for her effort to secure participation of Community Shares of Mid Ohio in the Denison University annual workplace giving campaign as well her leadership as a committee chair and Community Shares board member.
2010 Public Servant of the Year: Franklin County Commissioner Paula Brooks
for her leadership as Chairperson of the 2009 Franklin County Combined Charitable campaign and for her active involvement in the community.
2010 Social Justice Reporting of the Year Award: Outlook Media
for promoting the issues and causes that achieve social justice as well as having features promoting several member organizations.
2010 Member of the Year Award: Mercy For Animals
for their education about animal cruelty at factory farms, producing the award winning documentary “Fowl Play”, and providing information on vegan lifestyles. Mercy for Animals generated national press coverage for their undercover investigation of an Ohio dairy farm and resulting animal abuse charges.
2010 Donor of the Year: Dr. Leslie Fine
a professor at The Ohio State University, for her service to member organizations and the facilitation of connections to strengthen nonprofits through the Fisher College of Business.
