Learn, Share, Connect
This event is dedicated to the people who make our sector strong.
Whether you are a member of Community Shares or a leader at any nonprofit in central Ohio, our greatest impact comes from collaboration. This event is designed to get you out of your inbox and into a room of peers to strengthen the relationships that sustain our collective work across Central Ohio.
While networking is the priority, we’ll pause for a brief guest session by Make-A-Day. They will share a grounded look at Mission-First AI—discussing how nonprofits can navigate emerging technology ethically, protect vulnerable communities, and access training funds like TechCred.
The Agenda
- 9:30 AM | Open networking. Meet fellow leaders, staff, and advocates from across the nonprofit sector.
- 10:00 AM | Guest Presentation by Make-A-Day: Mission-First AI: Ethics and Practice for Nonprofits - Nonprofit organizations are under pressure to adopt AI tools faster than they can evaluate them. But for organizations serving people who have been harmed by automated systems, biased data, and surveillance technology, that pressure deserves scrutiny. This session draws on Make-A-Day's experience participating in AI training through AIOwl and TechCred and being selected as an OpenAI Foundation People-First AI Fund grantee to offer a grounded, practical framework for how small nonprofits can engage AI ethically. We'll cover how to define where AI belongs in your work and where it does not, how to build staff capacity for honest, values-aligned use, and how to fund training without a dedicated tech budget. No hype, no fear. Just a real conversation about what it looks like to use these tools without losing what makes your work matter.
- 10:30 AM | We shift back to the main event: connection. Use this time to exchange resources, share real-world experiences, and build partnerships with peers from across the sector.
- 11:00 AM | Wrap-up
Come for the community. Stay for the conversation. This event is open to all nonprofit professionals.
